We invite you to come share dinner and participate in our assembly, to discuss our new campaign of mobilization against poverty and precarity.

When there's no economic crisis, it's austerity, cutbacks, and zero deficit that impoverish us. For hundreds of years the vicious circle of the capitalist system has been recreating itself, feeding on the work of the poor majority, for the profit of the most rich, with the complicity of governments - puppets of the rich and powerful. And this is what they call democracy!

It's not in the interests of the population that the federal income tax for businesses has gone from 28% to 15% in the last 15 years. Nor is it for our own good that the largest Canadian banks, which made 30.3 billion dollars' profit in 2013, benefit from the lowest taxation rate of any sector of economic activity. At the same time, at least half of them don't pay taxes thanks to protections and tax havens. All the structures of our society are made to favour the rich. We are exploited, we are lied to, and we are asked to tighten our belts, while the belts of the rich are bursting!

They are rich because we are poor and we are right to revolt against cuts to social assistance, health care and education, and against the endlessly climbing costs of housing and food. We are also right to revolt against social inequities, patriarchy, the exclusion of migrant people, elderly people, people with disabilities, and those living with mental health issues. We no longer want to indebt ourselves to eat, to kill ourselves for a boss whose pockets fill up, while the governments make cuts in services, and the rich and their businesses siphon public funds!

Enough of this discourse claiming that if we are poor, it's because we are lazy! Let's act together to block the path of the crooks, profiteers and exploiters, who get rich and make decisions about our lives in place of us. Let's take down their system that keeps us at the bottom of the ladder!

Come discuss with us the actions of the campaign, give us your ideas and get involved. We want to make a long term people's campaign that will bring together all those who have had enough of waiting on the good will of elected officials and owners, and those who have had enough of puny reforms that don't change anything in the end, and promises that are never realized.

We're calling on community activists, workers whether unionized or not, students, the unemployed, and all those living daily in precarity and poverty of some form or another.

Our lives belong to us. Let's live them in dignity! From popular education to direct action, all tactics are good for reclaiming our freedom from the powerful! It's time to turn our demands and mobilizations up a few notches!
